Open Access & Licensing Policy

Last Updated: 26/02/2026

TheSustainImpact supports open access by making proceedings content published in TheSustainImpact Conference Proceedings Series (ISSN 3051-7362) publicly available online without subscription access. The specific access conditions and licensing for each item follow the terms stated in the relevant event communications and the policies listed on this site.

1. Open Access Principles

  • Access: Published proceedings content is made available online for readers without subscription payment.
  • No Subscription Fees: Readers do not pay to access or download published proceedings content on this platform.
  • Author Rights: Authors retain copyright of their work.
  • Licensing: Unless explicitly stated otherwise for a specific event or route, published items are released under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

2. Licensing Terms

The CC BY 4.0 license allows others to share and adapt the material for any purpose, including commercial use, provided proper attribution is given to the original authors and source, a link to the license is included, and any changes are indicated.

3. Fees and Publication Routes

  • Submission: No fee is charged to submit an abstract for consideration.
  • Conference Participation Fees: Where applicable, conference registration or participation fees cover event delivery and related services. These fees are managed by the relevant event and are communicated before payment is requested.
  • Proceedings Publication: Depending on the event and the selected publication route, fees may apply in connection with proceedings publication and related editorial or production handling. Any applicable terms are communicated in the relevant event materials or official email from the conference team.
  • External Publisher Fees: Where authors select an optional external journal or publisher route, that publisher’s fees and terms apply and are communicated separately.

4. Author Self-Archiving

Authors are permitted to deposit the published version of their work in institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, or personal websites, provided the stable URL is cited. Where a DOI has been assigned, authors should cite the DOI.

5. Long-Term Preservation

Proceedings content is preserved in accordance with the Archiving and Preservation Policy. This may include participation in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and listing in TheSustainImpact’s Publications Archive.

6. Compliance and Use by Readers

Readers and reusers should follow the license and citation requirements stated for each published item. Where a specific event or publication route specifies different terms, those terms take precedence for that item.
