Publication Fees & APC Policy

The Journal of Sustainable Innovation and Impact (JSII) operates an open access model. Editorial decisions are independent of ability to pay. Any fees apply only after acceptance and do not influence peer-review outcomes.

1. Current Fees

  • Submission fee: None
  • Article Processing Charge (APC): €380 (payable upon acceptance, before publication)
  • Page/colour charges: None (JSII is online-only)

2. What the APC Covers

Editorial production, copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration (Crossref), online hosting and archiving, and long-term preservation (PKP PN/LOCKSS).

3. Waivers & Discounts

JSII may consider full or partial APC waivers or discounts in the following cases:

  • Authors based in low- or lower-middle-income countries (World Bank classification)
  • Authors without institutional or grant funding
  • Invited articles, special issues, or manuscripts of exceptional public/societal impact (at the Editorial Board’s discretion)

Important: Waivers/discounts are not automatic and are granted at the discretion of the editors/publisher, subject to budget and policy. To request consideration, contact the Editorial Office at submission or immediately upon acceptance: editorial@thesustainimpact.com.

3a. Member Discounts (Post-Acceptance)

Authors who are current TheSustainImpact Members may receive a discounted APC for accepted articles, where applicable. Any discount is applied after acceptance and does not influence editorial or peer-review decisions. Membership is not required to submit or publish.

  • Eligibility: Active membership at the time of acceptance (e.g., Founding Member 2025 — €39/year).
  • Scope: Discount level and applicability are set by the publisher and may vary by issue or initiative.
  • Editorial independence: Peer review is based solely on scholarly merit.

4. Payment & Invoices

  • Method: Secure online payment via PayPal (credit/debit cards supported). A PayPal payment receipt is provided automatically.
  • Formal invoice: Available on request (institutional details, VAT note, PO number). Please email editorial@thesustainimpact.com with billing information.
  • Bank transfer: May be arranged upon request; processing may take longer than card/PayPal.
  • Taxes: Any applicable taxes (e.g., VAT) will appear on the invoice/receipt.
  • Timing: Invoices are issued upon acceptance; payment is due prior to publication.

5. Policy Changes

Any change to fees or waiver terms will be announced on this page in advance. Changes will not apply retroactively to manuscripts already accepted or under review at the time of the change.
